How to use indigo powder?
Mix indigo powder with lukewarm water to make a paste, then apply it to clean, detangled hair from roots to ends. You can use it on the same day or the next day after a henna treatment for a deep black colour. Leave it on for 1-2 hours, rinse with water. Shampoo your hair only after 24-48 hours to let the colour set.
How often can I use indigo powder on hair?
You can use indigo powder every few weeks, especially for root touch-ups or to cover new grey hairs. As indigo powder can make your hair feel dry, it is best to wait around 4 to 6 weeks between full applications.
Does indigo powder blacken hair?
Indigo powder can turn hair black, but it works best when used after henna application. Henna will give your hair a red-orange base, and indigo will add a deep blue tone, which together create a dark brown to black colour. If you are using indigo powder alone, it may leave a bluish tint instead of true black.
Can we mix henna and indigo powder together?
Yes, you can mix henna and indigo powder in one step to colour your hair, which gives you different shades of brown, depending on how much of each you use. However, if you want a deep black colour, it's better to do a two-step process, by applying henna first, rinsing it out, and then applying indigo.
Can I apply indigo without henna?
No, applying indigo alone usually won’t give you a natural black or brown colour. Instead, it can leave a blue or greenish tint on your hair. To get darker shades, you must apply henna first, followed by the indigo application to create a dark brown or black colour.
